Leica IIIC Value

Postby faxonpr » Sat Apr 18, 2009 3:02 pm

A couple of years ago, I picked up a Leica IIIC. Mine has the step rewind and the knob on the diopter correction lever. It also has the catch on the slow-speed dial. This is in near-mint condition, though I had to give it a new skin cause the other one cracked off. The serial number is 3924xx. Any ideas what it is worth? I paid about $350 for it.

Frank,
Could you check if one of the shutter curtains is red?
If it is, ~$650, if not ~$350. Also, price depends on the quality of the skin replacement.

Eugene.

Sadly, no red curtain, but a very nice Summitar. All the speeds sound good, and a film test turned out very nicely.

I put the new skin on myself. Real leather, die cut. The condition of the camera is excellent. Absolutely no brassing anywhere. It is a keeper for me.

Yeah, I'd keep it too, especially after you invested a lot of time for the leather change :)
