Mildred Scheel was the wife of West German Federal President Walter Scheel. A great philanthropist and friend of Andy Warhol. She had Polaroid to produce 1000 gold-plated cameras which were then auctioned specifically for her charity, the German Cancer Fund "Deutsche Krebshilfe". The cameras have her engraved signature and have been numbered from 1 to 1,000 on the side. They were auctioned off at a special TV auction in 1978.
